Shadowing your footsteps

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I brought home one of my bikes from the other place today. It needs work. The gears won't change because the cables are stretched and everything needs to be lubed. I did ride it home, however, once I managed to pump 50 PSI into the flat tires. It is the newer of my two cheap bikes. I'll bring home the other one tomorrow. I'm looking forward to riding about the city and getting some cardio and a bit of lung capacity back. Gotta take it easy at first, though. No steep hills just yet.

Shadow and wonderment

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I can't take credit for this photo. My sister shot it while I was holding Daniel. I only converted it to B&W and cropped it some. It is the best one of all the ones both of us took.

Mine is the pretty one...

Actually, the yellow/orange one was a spare being used by Gary. It has gone back to Toronto.

Bread on the left, Coke on the right. Part of my walk home. When the wind is right, it smells very nice going by the bakery :-)

The path less travelled

The woodsy part of my walk home, bottom pic first. I want to go get my bicycle from the other place today, and start riding to work. I have already told my taxi driver that I will be walking or riding from now on, at least until it gets too cold again. I will take the long way to work, just under two miles but very low traffic at 5:30 AM, and the shorter way home of about a mile on a low traffic route. Part of that is shown in the photos. Of a twenty minute walk, the woods is maybe four minutes of it.

Untenable but almost lovely

It shows signs of recent repairs, but that may be because it's used for storage.

Oh, deer! The Pepsi's all gone.

Overgrown

From here it looks like we're in the middle of nowhere.

But if we stand up there and look north...

It has been nothing but construction in this area for two years. The road needed rebuilding, but what isn't shown in the photo is the huge growth in new retail outlets (mainly to the left), and the resulting new water, sewer and power lines, and new entrances. It was messy, but it's done now except for some asphalt top coat.

Tower, tubes and treads

What I wanted to shoot was no longer near the tower, so you get the feed store again :-)

Hidey hole for critters. Didn't see any, though.

These are made of some kind of solid rubber and fit together. I have no idea where they came from, but perhaps they were part of a walkway along the tracks somewhere.

Nice digs for a gravedigger

These buildings sit on the St. Mary's Cemetery grounds, so I will guess this is where the groundskeeper used to live. They seem to be in use currently.

What's on TV? Just some talking head...

I want this TV.

Absolutely the last winter photos

The rink on the square has turned back into its concrete slab appearance now. I took these while it still had a watery ice covering.

Another Sunday morning, another big breakfast. I haven't mentioned it lately, but it's been a week since I had a cigarette. The Champix has diminished the cravings quite a bit. The urge has not went away completely, but it's small enough to resist.

Sheep poop and streamers

Actually, it's a fairground building, so there could be just about any kind of poop here :-)

Who was that masked man?

Disgusted with the cheapening of his image over a dozen films and countless other media spin-offs, Jason threw down his mask and became an accountant.

Which can handle the bigger dump?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I find this humorous. Portable toilet, "dump" truck, which is a Volvo "BM"...
And the driver is missing. Coincidence?

My sister was here with Danny today. He sure is a handful. I put away as much stuff as I could, but I have only so much closet space :-) I took a few pics, and my sister took some of me with Danny. I'll have a few up in a while.

Sit on it!!!

Off to have an ECG today. No worries, it's partly because I hadn't been to a doctor in fifteen years or so, and partly because I want to take better care of myself. It's all good.

Some new random stuff for you. I'm glad to have finally gotten off the ice :-)
