Making tracks for obscurity

A long time ago I left on a train for New Brunswick from this station. It was offered to the city for $1, but it may not be worth the money to rebuild it. It will likely be torn down.

  1. What a shame! Our old train station is downtown, and has lawyer's offices in it now.

  2. This one was left empty for a long time, Kate. Kids tried to burn it down, hence the wall and tarps.

  3. it's always sad when such old, "historical" buildings get neglected, then have to be demolished. Sometimes the cities here get stuff offered for $1, but the rebuilding costs are too high. *sigh*

  4. That sounds like something that would happen here. Totally no sense of history. Here they would tear it down to make way for a parking structure.

  5. The sail building from the '76 sailingf Olympics was given to the city, bu it is much newer, Dorrie. It needed no work :-)

In the lower structures, there was a pub and a glass blowing business, jj, but nothing ever went into the stone part, the best part of the whole thing. The city loved its historical buildings, but this one is a bit too far gone for taxpayer money.
