Tyler and I went out for a while in the afternoon. The temp had reached 3°C/37.5°F and was sort of sunny. I think I walked about six or seven miles all together, but it was very low impact, but watery in places. I needed to bump up my photo inventory and got at least a half dozen interesting ones that will get posted with the 40 boring ones :-)

  1. What are they doing? Are they using the sailboats like giant ice skates? That looks like lots and lots of fun, but really cold!

  5. Maybe I'm just not green enough, but those spiky alien things in the background are visually exhausting.

I should think people who live in windy places suffer enough, without losing the peaceful option of gazing at the horizon and imagining it leads to a better place. I guess the upside is that one look at that horizon and you would be thinking home is not so shabby after all..

  6. My Dad and uncle used to run an ice boat on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin when he was a kid. He said it was a blast! He said that they could really fly! I think I'd love to try this. They also used to ice fish on that lake...that's what I call crazy!

  10. bbs, my horizon includes less dependance on oil :-)

I prefer to stay off the ice, MJ. I have seen a well drilling rig on ice once, but I still felt unsafe on it :-)

Nah, you just need some good, fleece undies and a proper snow suit, Moko ;-)

White balance set to sunny, Burst.

It looks like fun, but I'll stay back and watch :-)Thanks, S-D

  11. Excellent photos. I've always wanted to try ice sailing. I know they do it not far from here. I should actually put it on my list of things to do (for next year maybe). I'll think on that. Pass the hot chocolate.

  13. I only have a problem with being on the ice, B-e. I'd rather use one with wheels on a big parking lot, and drink beer instead.
    Thanks :-)

Thank you, Kate! I specifically shot it that way :-)
