Is this what they mean by Boxing Day?

After I dragged my ass out of bed at 10:30 this morning and made breakfast, I spent some time online, and then decided I had to get out of here for the day. I walked to the store twice (I forgot coffee on the first trip) and then went downtown.

I got a few photos here and there, stopped at the Surplus, and then four of us went to the Toucan for a couple of beers. At least I can say that I did go out on NYE :-) Megan wasn't working, and by 5:30 I was by myself, so rather than hang around and eat half price food all alone, I came home and had a couple of crustinis.

And now I'm wasting time online again. Well, actually, I'm making sure I have as many JS exiles in my blogroll as I can find.

Happy New Year, everybody! Even if you aren't from our dear, departed Journalspace :-)

Don't know what they're selling, but I'm not buying it.

I have tomorrow and Thursday off. They are giving us Wednesday so they don't have to pay us any extra for New Year, just like they gave us Wednesday last week to avoid paying extra for Christmas.

The fools still have to pay us an extra day for next week, because we are not scheduled for more than four days, and we will work five in a row. I know, you're thinking, "wait, most day jobs are five days a week". In the warehouse this may be true, but we drivers work ten hour days, thus only four days a week.

It's nice to work two days, take a day off and then work two more and get the weekend, but I wish we were still under our older system, when we didn't work Fridays. That was shweeet.

I saw my new nephew Danny at my much older nephew Steve's place on Boxing Day.

Bride and... bride's maid?

The placement of the wooden spindle is a bit unfortunate. Sorry.

She's not a dirty girl, she's just behind a dirty window :-)

I have had two days of over eating. I'm afraid to step on the scale. My weight was originally at 166 lbs and dropping to 164, but I don't want to look now :-)

Remember to bundle the kids up!

Did your parental unit ever dress you up like this?

Merry Christmas to all the Journalspace exiles and everyone else stopping by!

More Christmas treeses

In the course of the last week, I have been wishing many people on my route a Merry Christmas. At one of the stores where I picked up returns today, The manager, instead of the receiver answered the door and gave me a hand with putting the boxes on my truck. I wished her a Merry Christmas, and she wished me one, and then hugged me :-) For a moment, I thought she wanted to kiss me. That was the best "Merry Christmas" I've gotten so far.

I'm glad I didn't ruin it by asking if she was cold, because two small parts of her anatomy obviously had taken notice of the low temperature, situated as they were behind her somewhat thin, corporate shirt :-)

More random Christmas-type trees for you.

I went grocery shopping with Wifey and Tyler after work (yay) in preparation for my first time stuffing and cooking a turkey. We are having dinner in my little apartment, but there are a few things I need to pick up, like a couple of chairs, a table, more plates and cutlery...

Should be fun :-)

Maybe you'd rather have a coffee...

I am just getting around to making breakfast for Tyler and I. It's a pain checking out four different sites :-)

Have a cup of tea, it's gonna be a long wait.

I guess if you are reading this, then word has gotten out. JS is gone for the week.

Any port in a storm

Snow storms, shit storms, whatever. I haven't bothered to customize my page , because this is really just a temporary place to vent when Journalspace goes down. I have three years invested there, and pay for pro access, so I expect it to be there, and when they have a problem, I expect it to be fixed pronto.

Obviously, the owners seem to have a laissez faire method of maintenance, and it's been nearly two days since JS failed. I wonder why they spent all this time banging their head against a remote wall before deciding to go there directly. I'm not an IT guy, and have no clue what went wrong, but when you have people giving you money, you have an obligation to let them know what the hell is going on.

Anyway, it's been a long time since I posted here, and it will likely be another long time before I do so again. I just don't like it here. There is no JS-like community.

Merry Christmas.
